Every May, something unusual happens in Basel. Superheroes stride past banks. Witches queue for Japanese soft serve. A Mandalorian rides the tram. And 90,000+ people who know exactly why that's normal descend on Messe Basel for three straight days of beautiful, unapologetic nerd culture.

Fantasy Basel – The Swiss Comic Con is Europe's most diverse pop culture convention. And the 2026 edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

What to expect

The Messe Basel campus spans over 100,000 square metres — which sounds abstract until you realise you'll still manage to miss three panels you really wanted to catch. There's something genuinely for everyone: cosplay competitions, gaming halls, artist alleys lined with illustrators and tattoo artists, film props, stage shows with celebrity guests from the worlds of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and beyond.

Eight stages. Over 800 booths. A comic competition with entries from 36 countries. A hall dedicated entirely to e-sports and gaming. Medieval, steampunk, sci-fi, horror — the whole spectrum lives under one roof for 72 hours.

What to wear

Sure, you could go full cosplay. We salute that ambition. But if you want to show your allegiances without spending six months in the craft room, a graphic tee does the job just as hard.
